Raspberries

Cold-Hardy Raspberry Plants for Sale: Shipped Spring 2025

When purchasing raspberry plants, it is an advantage to start with plants that are "clean" or free of virus. There are many viruses that affect raspberries, and these are found to various extents in all parts of the country. The raspberry plants listed below are "virus indexed", meaning that they have been propagated from stock that is free of virus. This does not mean, of course, that they cannot become infected at a later time. If properly managed, however, raspberries can be one of the easiest and most rewarding small fruits to grow.

Pollination
It is not necessary to plant more than one variety for pollination.

How long before they fruit?
Raspberries are precocious bearers and will usually yield some fruit the second year after planting. Full production can be attained in 3 to 4 years.

Spacing
Red raspberries should be set 1 to 2 ft. apart, with 6-8 ft. between the rows. Purple and black raspberries should be spaced 3 to 4 feet apart, with 10 to 12 ft. between rows.
