-40°F with occasional injury. Golden russet with a red blush. Ripens in late August - early September.
Introduced byPurdue University in 1979, resulting from a cross between Seckel and a hybrid of Vermont Beauty and Roi Charles de Wurtemburg. The fruit is exceptionally sweet with a rich, spicy, and aromatic profile, reminiscent of its Seckel parentage; the flesh is smooth, buttery, and fine-textured with no detectable grit. Honeysweet is a natural dwarf, shows some resistance to fireblight, and is self-fertile.
